Following acquisition of a number of Irish assets over the last year John Laing has officially opened a Dublin office and appointed Brian Gilroy as Managing Director. Gilroy who was already based in Dublin overseeing the Valley Healthcare business (a developer of primary care centres) now also assumes control of the Dublin Convention Centre and Irish Telecomms company Towercom which John Laing acquired from the ISIF (Irish Strategic Investment Fund) last year.

Outside of Europe John Laing have announced
the acquisition of a twenty-five per cent stake in the Centre
Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) public-private partnership (PPP)
project from Obrascón Huarte Lain, S.A. Completed by namesake Laing O’Rourke
and OHL in 2017 the $1.6bn project caused Laing O’Rourke significant headaches
and ultimately led them to exit the Canadian market.
